Christine Schell (CEO)
In 1960, when veterinary home-opathy was still uncharted terri-tory, the veterinarian Dr. Bertold Schell investigated the treatment possibilities for homeopathy in animals and acquired extensive knowledge from the specialist literature and practical experience. His treatments were successful, sometimes astoundingly so, and he soon devoted all his energy to this complex field. In lecture series and at conferences he was initially something of a lone pioneer, but this was to change dramatically over the years. As early as 1962, a well-known pharmaceutical manufacturer, also based in Rastatt, near the Black Forest area of Germany, was prepared to manufacture and distribute under license the homeopathic product line deve- |
veterinary homeopathy his novel product ranges soon attracted the attention of wholesalers and retailers. The fact that his preparations for birds and rodents were available without prescription made it possible for them to be sold on pet shops.Within but a few years SUPRA-CELL Ltd. made it-self a name with its range of products as a specialized provider in the sector and is until today almost unchallenged in the field. The company expanded its premises considerably in 1990 and added more reme-dies for dogs, cats and pig-eons to its range of products. Since 1993 the family-owned company has been success-fully managed in the second generation under the leader-ship of the founders daugh-ter, Christine Schell. Mean-while the product range comprises over 200 remedies, which are potentized by hand and manufactured with the greatest of care according to the valid quality standards. All the preparations are available eit-her in liquid form for admi-nistration with the animals drinking water or in solid form |
(globules). The range of pro-ducts is completed with a small assortment of vitamin preparations for spraying, li-quid yeast and teas. New products added to the programme are Bach flower remedies that relieve psy-chic disorders of pets. These 7 different remedies are applied, e.g., for small acci-dents, to increase the willing-ness to learn of aggressive or anxious pets, for exhaustion, mour-ning or detoxification. The idea to assemble Bach flowers and to turn them into a remedy is not new but, the inventor, Dr Edward Bach did it already. The same applies to pets as to persons: in case of illness the entire organism is sick and therefore the entire animal must be treated and not only its symptoms. Body, psyche and soul are one entity. If the balance of the pet is impaired and particularly if it has a chronic illness, the reason is an unresolved conflict. The ill-ness or the strange behaviour is a cry for help that some-thing is out of balance, that a deficit, a weakness, blockage exists. |
Now the pet keeper has the possibility to treat with Bach flowers which are offered as finished globuli and can be kept for a long time. SUPRA-CELL Ltd. has meanwhile made a name for itself in the pet shop and veterinary sector. They export through their wholesalers in various countries and supply directly to Singapore and Hongkong. Nowadays, the export is making less than 10 % of turnover. But still there are many countries not yet offering natural medicine for pets. In this respect they try to find suitable partners being ready to distribute a real new range in the pet shops and through veterinarians. Animal owners are now making conscious efforts to seek out alternative treatment methods for their pets - both as regards the choice of veterinarian and what is called self-medication. |
